CLEFT - Bridging the gap

How can I help?

You can help in many different ways - by donating, organising or taking part in a fundraising event. It really is up to you. Our supporters regularly organise or take part in events such as sponsored half marathons, cycle races, poetry readings or similar activities. We appreciate every penny you raise or donate.

Fundraising

In a challenging economic climate CLEFT has been fortunate to have had the support of people committed to doing their utmost to help us achieve our objectives.

Patients, past and present, parents, family, medical staff at Great Ormond Street and St Andrews, friends, acquaintances, total strangers, they have all done their bit over the last few years.

In 2009 and 2010 the most successful fundraising exercise for CLEFT was our participation in the Royal Parks Half Marathons, which together raised over £100,000. The 2011 Royal Parks Half Marathon on 9th October was another great success and we should know the total amount raised in the near future

There are some very helpful websites on fundraising, such as www.100fundraising ideas.co.uk

Other highlights of our fund raising efforts were participation in the London to Brighton Bike Ride; Topless Ladies' car rally; Three Peaks Challenge; cycling up the dreaded Mount Ventoux , a legendary leg of the Tour de France; running in the 5K Adidas Race for Life; sponsored dives, completing a Half Iron Man. Numerous other physical challenges have been taken on and completed, all to promote our cause.

60s/70s night at The Shire Hall - Saturday 26th November

What a fantastic night! Great music and fabulous outfits: Sergeant Pepper, Austin Powers, mini-skirts and flower power (and a fair sprinkling of ageing hippies) – the effort everybody put into dressing up was amazing (just look at the photos!).

Thanks to everyone concerned – to those who donated the wonderful raffle prizes, to the band who created such a tremendous atmosphere, to Michelle for her "makeovers" and above all to everyone who attended and made the evening so special. The evening raised between £700 and £800 profit for CLEFT and certainly proved that fundraising can be fun.

Here's to the next time!!!

Huge endeavour has been put into organising cake stalls, tombolas, bar crawls, children's activities, growing beards and moustaches. Grateful thanks to all of you who took part.

We also acknowledge the many donors who have sent cheques because they just want to help.

We really need your continuing support to fulfill our objectives and look forward to welcoming you to future events:
