There are currently very few toys for the children to play with on the cleft ward in the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh. We know that toys are a great distraction for children in hospital and it is also known that children often express their feelings through play.

We would like to help the hospital in two ways - by sending some money to the cleft team in Dhaka to buy culturally appropriate toys locally, and by sending some toys directly from the UK along with storage boxes so that they can be tidied away when not in use.

The toys would also be used by Lia, the speech and language therapist, who can use them to help the children practice their sounds.

There are many ways you can help, either by donating only by clicking the DONATE button at the top of this page or setting up a fundraiser page, or:

  • you can supply nearly new toys - unfortunately we cannot accept soft toys, for hygiene reasons all toys have to be wipeable;
  • you can supply us with clear plastic containers for storing the toys in the hospital;
  • you can help us organise or pay for shipping the toys to Bangladesh.

Please contact the CLEFT office to discuss any of these options by requesting a call back.
