Join us for a very special AFtERNOON of music with famous English bass, Sir John Tomlinson, performing his well known songs and arias at the Lecture Recital Room at the Guildhall School of Music.
John Tomlinson was born in Lancashire. He gained a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering at Manchester University before winning a scholarship to the Royal Manchester College of Music. He was awarded a C.B.E. in 1997 and knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours of 2005. He was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society Music Award for Singer in 1991, 1998 and 2007 and in 2014 their Gold Medal.
“Although his vocal register is as deep and dark as the night, there’s a visceral thrill and an emotional susceptibility more associated with a higher-pitched Verdi hero.” – Ben Lawrence (Daily Telegraph)
With a large concert repertoire Tomlinson has sung with all the leading British orchestras as well as orchestras in Germany, Italy, Belgium, Holland, France, Spain, Denmark and the U.S.A, this one off intimate concert will be a night to remember.
All proceeds from the concert will go to CLEFT to help fund research into clefts and support the the local teams we work with overseas.
