It has been a rocky road for charities this year - all the events we would normally have been able to hold are cancelled. The spotlight is now shining on what can be done virtually and thanks to one of our supporters, Karen Horne, we were able to hold our first masterclass in dog grooming. Karen has her own dog grooming business, Shampoo Belle, and has been working in the industry for the last 10 years. In short, there isn't much about dogs that Karen doesn't know and we are very grateful to her for giving her time and expertise. In the end, we had 23 participants who each paid £10 to attend the hour long masterclass.

With model Chester (pictured before and above), Karen demonstrated how to brush his coat, clip nails, trim hair in delicate areas such as around the eyes, and discussed good dental hygiene. Karen answered questions from the participants and was able to answer questions specific to their own breed of dog.

Karen was excellent and her actions easy to follow.

Thanks to the donations we received on the night, we raised £340. We would like to say a big thank you to Karen, Tracy Morris (trustee and Karen's helper) and all our participants who supported the event and contributed to its success.
