Craniofacial clefts are large clefts that can affect the face, eyes, nose and mouth. Children with craniofacial clefts require a specialised and long term course of treatment. Many children with craniofacial clefts face many complications.

Ibrahim before surgery

Ibrahim was born in Bangladesh with a craniofacial cleft. Ibrahim was lucky to have a supportive family who made the long journey from home to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he was treated by the CLEFT team. Ibrahim's dad said "People used to be scared of him, they used to look away. When he entered the operation room I felt apprehensive and worried...only Allah knows what will be the outcome."

He will need further operations before he reaches adulthood but will continue to be looked after with the help of the money provided by CLEFT.
